Inspiring Ipswich is part of the Diocesan Growing in God strategy. Its vision is growth in existing church communities and the creation of new worshipping communities, where anyone and everyone can explore and grow in faith.
The Inspiring Ipswich project is a once in a generation opportunity. With significant support from the Church Commissioners and the Diocese, the project injects substantial resources into our Deanery of Ipswich. Through this, by God’s grace, we aim to:
- grow 25 new worshipping communities
- provide fresh energy for the existing churches
- make meaningful contact with 15,000 people
- engage 7,500 people in exploring faith
- have 1,500 new people become members of a worshipping community.

As part of Inspiring Ipswich, a group from St. Matthew’s were sent in early 2020 to create a new church – Bridge Church – with the vision ‘to see church relating to people who are not used to church; where the potential of younger generations is unleashed and where faith comes alive.’
St Matthew’s also has a learning community, as part of Inspiring Ipswich, to help St. Matthew’s to grow as a church.
